We will remember them

The students of Room 3 have been learning about ANZAC. They have been thinking about the soldiers and medical people who gave so much in war.

We have thought about these people in our prayers. Here is our prayer mat. It has photos and a certificate belonging to our families.

We are looking forward to commemorating ANZAC at our school liturgy on Friday after lunch. Come join us.

Our new goal Super Stars

A bunch of clever Room 3 students "Reached for the Stars" and achieved their first goal. Here they are. Well done!!!

Welcome to Term Two

Hi everyone!

Welcome to term two. I've had a lovely first day back with Room 3, and it sounds like they all had busy holidays.

We have kicked off this term with a study on ANZAC day. I've asked the children to ask their families about connections they might have with family members who served in the wars. We began to talk about Gallipolli today and the most common question was, "why does war happen?" Quite a question to attempt to discuss with six year olds. The school has a moving display of white crosses next to the church. These represent locals who died in Gallipolli. We took some time to think about these people today. We will continue with our Rocky Shore inquiry after our ANZAC unit.

Today we also began our "Reaching for the Stars" goal challenge today. You will notice there are stars and goals on a tag. Each child has a set of goals.  When they achieve a goal we celebrate and they get to colour in a star on their star goal card. Once they fill in all their stars we have an even bigger celebration.

We will begin with easy goals to begin with and then make them more individualised as we get a handle on the system.

This term will not doubt be a busy as last term.
I look forward to meeting with everyone during mid-term interviews.
