Science with balloons

Today for our language experience we explored the science behind balloons. Our sound of the week is:  bl
We first looked at how they moved when we blew air into them and then let them go.

We then looked closely at how balloons float to the ground. We compared balloons falling to a tennis ball. We put left over erasers in one balloon. We worked out that the heavier the balloon, the faster it fell. We're going to learn more about gravity later this week.

We wrote up what we found out on our "I wonder" sheets.

Finally we had a play around with static electricity. We had loads of fun. We're going to explore this more this week, learning about why balloons seem to magically stick to us.

Jack and Travis are using Mrs Young's scarf to build up static electricity.

Look: Briar is not using hands to hold up the balloon.

The balloons even stuck to our art!

We can't wait to have more fun with our balloons tomorrow.

Remembering Gabby with Random Acts of Kindness

Room 3 was so sad to hear that Gabby passed away last week. She was a brave and kind girl. She worked hard to try and make life better for others. We are honouring her this week by doing random acts of kindness. Children are completing this mission and then making a poster with pictures or photos of what they have done. Here are a few:

Sofia sung at a local rest home.

Reagan swept up his neighbours leaves.

Nathan baked muffins for an elderly friend.

Thank you for showing such kindness room 3. I can't wait to see more posters.
