Noticing Closely
For science, we have been practicing gathering data and looking closely at the world around us. Today we explored water drops. We looked closely and thought about whey we saw, what we think is happening and what we wonder about now.
We raced some raindrops. Some fell quickly.
Here's some photos of our exploration.
First we dripped water onto mini whiteboards.
We noticed that drips fall at different speeds. Some water "sticks" and doesn't fall.
We noticed can that the water soaked into cardboard. We learnt a new word: "absorb".
We look forward to exploring more.

More science!!
We have continued with our science study on gathering and interpreting data. We have been focusing on water.
Students learnt last term about the different states that water can be. We explored ice, steam and liquid. Here's some pictures of our investigation.
Here we are exploring ice.
We used a jug, water and a baking tray to watch steam turn back into a liquid.
Here's Ethan writing his name in the drips from the steam.
We then had a challenge to see which group could melt their ice the fastest. Check out some of our techniques.
Rubbing ice in the carpet.
Rubbing the ice in the bowl.

Production Pics
I was so proud of our school last term, with the successful performance of "Over the Rainbow". Room 3 students were in two scenes: the Hot Sparks and the Fireflies. Here is a photo of them just before the first performance.
