Science with balloons

Today for our language experience we explored the science behind balloons. Our sound of the week is:  bl
We first looked at how they moved when we blew air into them and then let them go.

We then looked closely at how balloons float to the ground. We compared balloons falling to a tennis ball. We put left over erasers in one balloon. We worked out that the heavier the balloon, the faster it fell. We're going to learn more about gravity later this week.

We wrote up what we found out on our "I wonder" sheets.

Finally we had a play around with static electricity. We had loads of fun. We're going to explore this more this week, learning about why balloons seem to magically stick to us.

Jack and Travis are using Mrs Young's scarf to build up static electricity.

Look: Briar is not using hands to hold up the balloon.

The balloons even stuck to our art!

We can't wait to have more fun with our balloons tomorrow.
