Shadow Poems

Room 3 has been studying the science behind shadows.  We've been working like scientists by looking closely at the changes that happen around us.  We have lots of questions about shadows, the sun, the earth and how shadows and light change.  We're going to be gathering data to explore this further.

As part of our language experience in Week 2, we wrote Shadow poems.  Here's a selection of some of our amazing poetry.

My Shadow

I have a shadow.
Sometimes she can be a scardy cat.
But sometimes she is not.
Sometimes she is tall.
Sometimes she is small.
But I wonder why shadows are dark?
I love my shadow because
It follows me!

My Shadow

Some shadows do copy you
And why do they copy?
She just does whatever I do.

My Shadow

Do you know my shadow is a scardy cat?
Because it is always behind me.
Sometimes my shadow gives me a fright.
I get scared.
My shadow is a girl.
At night you can’t make a shadow because you need light.
My shadow is a copy cat.

My Shadow

My shadow follows me everywhere.
My shadow never runs away from me.
My shadow is black and it always is right beside me.
My shadow copies me.

My Shadow

Shadow, he is my friend.
My shadow is black.
My shadow is following me.
He is the best shadow.
Where did he go?

My Shadow

I have a shadow.
It always follows me.
It looks like a monster and
she follows me.
It sometimes does naughty things.
I know what she is up to.
I see her on the swing and on the slide
and on the monkey bars
and behind me.

My Shadow

I have a shadow.
She is a coward
And she loves to jump on the trampoline.
She is too scared to come in front of me.
She love pinching my brother’s shadow.
It copies me too.

My Shadow

I welcome my shadow to the day.
I like it in the morning and the day.
Sometimes he is shy.
Sometimes he is good.
He goes up to the mountain and goes higher and sometimes he stays down.
He makes a fool of me.
Sometimes he doesn’t.
Maybe he’s afraid of the dark.
Maybe he hates me.
I like my shadow.
He has no eyes or ears but I like him in every sort of way.
He grows and shrinks.
He plays with me when it rains.
We stay inside.
The clock ticks and when it’s time for bed, he goes away.
